چکیده

The development of new MRI technologies has favoured the use of sequences that significantly improve the spatial resolution of this imaging method, thus yielding thin-section images that allow volumetric analysis. We present our experience at Clínica Vespucio, Santiago, Chile, related to a routine knee MRI protocol performed on 45 patients who underwent conventional proton density-weighted fat-saturated sequence (PDwFS) 3-mm section thickness along with proton density-weighted fat-saturated sequence with thin-section (1.2 mm). In most cases, the thin-section PDwFS allows a better anatomical characterization of lesions, particularly meniscal and condral injuries, with minimal increase in image acquisition time.

ANALYTICAL STUDY OF EFFECT OF BILAYER INORGANIC AND ORGANIC COATING AROUND THE IRON OXIDE NANOPARTICLES ON MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING CONTRAST

Background & Aims: In recent years, iron oxide nanoparticles have been used in contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging for diagnosing a wide range of diseases. In order to provide biocompatibility and prevent the toxicity of the nanoparticles, using organic or inorganic coating around these nanoparticles is important for their application. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect...

A simple low-SAR technique for chemical-shift selection with high-field spin-echo imaging.

We have discovered a simple and highly robust method for removal of chemical shift artifact in spin-echo MR images, which simultaneously decreases the radiofrequency power deposition (specific absorption rate). The method is demonstrated in spin-echo echo-planar imaging brain images acquired at 7 T, with complete suppression of scalp fat signal. When excitation and refocusing pulses are suffici...

Full-brain T1 mapping through inversion recovery fast spin echo imaging with time-efficient slice ordering.

Brain T1 mapping has important clinical applications in detecting brain disorders. Conventional T1 mapping techniques are usually based on inversion recovery spin echo (IRSE) imaging or its more time-efficient counterpart inversion recovery fast spin echo (IRFSE) imaging because they can deliver good image quality. Multiple inversion times are required to accurately estimate T1 over a wide rang...

Magnetic resonance imaging of knee cartilage using a water selective balanced steady-state free precession sequence.

PURPOSE To compare an optimized water selective balanced steady-state free precession sequence (WS-bSSFP) with conventional magnetic resonance (MR) sequences in imaging cartilage of osteoarthritic knees. MATERIALS AND METHODS Flip angles of sagittal and axial WS-bSSFP sequences were optimized in three volunteers. Subsequently, the knees of 10 patients with generalized osteoarthritis were imag...

Reduced susceptibility effects in perfusion fMRI with single-shot spin-echo EPI acquisitions at 1.5 Tesla.

Arterial spin labeling (ASL) perfusion contrast is not based on susceptibility effects and can therefore be used to study brain function in regions of high static inhomogeneity. As a proof of concept, single-shot spin-echo echo-planar imaging (EPI) acquisition was carried out with a multislice continuous ASL (CASL) method at 1.5T. A bilateral finger tapping paradigm was used in the presence of ...
